Shrine
The people of Schoenstatt are convinced that God has given each of us a unique task or mission for our lives. In the same way, we strongly believe that God has a particular vocation for our Austin community. The foundation of the Schoenstatt Movement in Austin recalls the beginnings of Christianity itself, its birthplace in hope and love: Bethlehem, Cradle of Sanctity. Our focus is that pivotal moment in history when, out of His great love, God took our human flesh in all its frailty, that He might be bone of our bone, flesh of our flesh, and so restore us to life. We believe that Christ must be reborn in each one of us and that we must remain alert to His transforming presence within us, as was his Blessed Mother. We want this miracle of new birth to flourish in all those who find strength and renewal of faith in our Schoenstatt Shrine. The Schoenstatt Shrine is our spiritual home. There we experience the deepest sense of belonging - as children to the Mother of God, as brothers of Jesus, and as beloved sons and daughters of God our Father. We are one body in Christ, a community of God’s divine love. There are many such shrines around the world; each is connected by grace to the Original Shrine in Schoenstatt, Germany. It is our goal to build such a shrine in Austin. An important step towards the Shrine was the blessing of the Wayside Shrine in the property grounds on May 31st 2006. |
